“Not sure we’ll be doing any Avatar rewards, but we are making avatar items. With some free ones hopefully.”
So, expect to see Modern Warfare 2 Avatar items hit Xbox Live some time before the game’s November 10th release date.

Uncharted 2 Twitter feature gets disabled for the time being

A few weeks ago it was made known that Uncharted 2 would feature the ability to update your Twitter feed when you recieved a Trophy, connected to a multiplayer game and more.
In theory, this sounds like a good idea, but someone following an Uncharted 2 fiend would undoubtedly get ridiculous annoyed. Naughty Dog seems to have taken note of this, issuing the below statement:
“Some reviewers have had early access to the game and selected the option to update their Twitter accounts as they completed each chapter of the game. This has resulted in some Twitter feeds being updated multiple times an hour. We obviously want to provide the best experience for everybody, so for the time being we’ve disabled Twitter updates on chapter completions. The option will still exist in the menus when the game ships on 10/13, but if activated, it will do nothing. Some time after the game has shipped, we’ll release a patch to reactivate the feature, but with a limit on the frequency of updates.”

Uncharted 2 to feature Twitter compatibility

Now here’s an idea — It was recently discovered that Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will feature out of the box Twitter compatibility. No, you won’t be able to manually update your Twitter feed from in the game but instead, if you opt for it, the game will send out periodical tweets showing your followers when you have obtained a new Trophy, completed a single-player mission or even connect to a multiplayer game.
This probably isn’t the most exciting feature out there but for you avid Twitter users who feel the need to keep the world updated of your every action, this may be a god send.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will hit store shelves exclusively for the Playstation 3 on October 13th, 2009.

Facebook and Twitter coming to 360 before Christmas
Speaking at an event, Microsoft marketing employee James Halton said that the company was aiming for a Fall debut of Facebook and Twitter integration for the Xbox 360.
“It will be before Christmas,” Halton said. “A lot of the background work’s been done for a lot of applications that are coming.”
The recent preview of the Xbox Live dashboard was missing these upcoming social networking tools, so we don’t know exactly how they’ll work with the user interface just yet. As previously mentioned, these tools will not be included in the August 11th update.

Use Battlefield 1943 weapons in Bad Company 2
It seems that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will take a gameplay element from Battlefield 1943 namely, the weapons.
Yes, according to the official Battlefield 1943 twitter, you will in fact be able to use the weapons featured in said game in EA’s upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Below is said tweet:
Think you’re a Bad Ass with BF1943 weapons? What if I said you’ll be able to use your Semi-Auto Rifle, Sniper Rifle, or SMG in BFBC2!
I don’t know exactly who will opt for Battlefield 1943 weapons over Bad Company 2’s but at least it’s a cool feature to have, right?
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be out for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in Q1 of next year.
Modern Warfare 2 Special Edition to be called Prestige Edition

Robert Bowling, Community Manager over at Infinity Ward, has recently updated his twitter page letting us know that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Special Edition will in fact be called the Prestige Edition. Those who have played previous Call of Duty games will recognize this term as it is a prominent part of the game’s online play.
Furthermore, Bowling also notified us that sometime this weekend he will post an unboxing revealing the contents of the Prestige Edition. Let’s just hope that it’s something more creative than your run-of-the-mill art book.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC on November 10th, 2009.
Midway Collapse Killed MK vs DC DLC
When it first began, DLC seemed more like an experiment into how much extra companies could charge for new content than anything else, but these days it’s almost a guarantee for any major release. Though it might not have gotten the acclaim of most other titles in the series, Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe performed well enough to warrant some DLC of its own.
Unfortunately this won’t ever see the light of day due to the financial stumblings of Midway and their buy-out by Warner Bros. Ed Boon posted a render for sorceror Quan Chi onto his personal twitter account with the commentary “Excited about MK9 and WB, but wish we could have released DLC for MKvsDC”. Due to the abbreviated nature of twitter there aren’t any more details but with a huge roster of Mortal Kombat characters who hadn’t made the cut we’d probably have seen a fair number of fan favorites added to the list.
Twitter + Warcraft = BOOM!
140 characters of banter right up your alley? How about if someone threw World of Warcraft into the mix? Now we’re talking!
A new program called TweetCraft has been released, offering WoW gamers a fully featured Twitter client that allows you to send and receive messages in-game. Heck, it also allows you to schedule your Tweet messages and even send in-game screenshots. Feel like boasting? It also auto tweets whenever you get an achievement!
While both are like drugs on steroids, you simply cannot deny the fun of being able to send pointless little messages to strangers while pretending to slay monsters and whatnot.
Last.fm free for Xbox Live Gold members, not so much for Silver

Back at E3 Microsoft announced thtat they would be bringing services like Last.fm, Facebook and Twitter to Xbox Live but we haven’t heard many details since.
Well, Facebook and Twitter have been put on the back burner for a moment while Last.fm details begin to flow. It seems that a Xbox Live manager by the name of Christina DeRosa recently said that Silver Xbox Live members will in fact be able to access Last.fm, but not like Gold members. The service will be completely free for Gold members while Silver members will only be given a trial that allows for 3 hours of use per month.
Finally, there will also be a subscription to Last.fm that will allow for completely ad-free music, but who wants to pay for that, right?

Xbox Live to be down on June 16th

Major Nelson has recently reported on his official blog that the Xbox Live service will be down for up to 24 hours starting on Tuesday, June 16th at 12:01 AM PST. This downtime includes the ‘My Xbox’ portion of Xbox.com along with making it impossible for users to post on the Xbox forums.
This window of downtime will give Microsoft the chance to prep the service for the new Xbox Live features that were announced at this year’s E3. Those features include Last.fm, Twitter, Facebook, Last.fm and more.
However, please make note that you will not gain access to these features once Xbox Live goes back up as they will not officially go live until later this year.
Facebook and Twitter coming to Xbox Live

Facebook and Twitter, arguably two of the most popular things on the Internet these days, are coming to the Xbox 360 on Xbox Live, Microsoft announced at E3 during their press conference.
Facebook on Xbox Live will feature the same NXT style navigation, and Twitter will show the avatars of the Twiterers. In addition, it will be possible to post screenshots and messages directly from in-game to Facebook. Both features will be available this Fall.
Ratchet & Clank coming to LittleBigPlanet

Insomniac Games has recently let us know on their official Twitter account that we will be seeing a Ratchet & Clank DLC pack for LittleBigPlanet soon.
Below is the tweet:
replies from @mmalex, lbp levells coming, r&c content done, coming soon hopefully, up next for mm, big pack, bigger than mgs even.
We’ll have to wait until the pack is officially announced before we mark this one down as definite but this is a pretty good hint at whats in store. Although, the words “bigger than mgs” sounds pretty good.
