Red Faction: Guerilla to get 3 DLC packs

THQ has just announced that in the coming months Red Faction: Guerrilla will be getting 3 seperate downloadable content packs. This is great news for fans looking to get more out of the game that was released earlier this month.
The first in the series of DLC packs is called Demons of the Badlands and will hit the Playstation Network and Xbox Live on August 13th for $9.99 or 800 Microsoft Points respectively. Demons is reportedly an expansion for the game’s single-player mode that will add new missions for players to explore.
As for the other 2 DLC packs, THQ has said that there will be more information in the coming weeks.
Free Saints Row 2 DLC pack hits Xbox Live

Saints Row 2 was released all the way back in October but as a way of saying thanks for purchasing the game, THQ and Volition have released a free DLC pack currently exclusive to the Xbox 360.
Entitled The Unkut Pack, this pack will add all sorts of new character customization items from T-shirts and tanktops to watchets and tattoos. Below is the official description:
Pimp out your personality with over 60 brand new customization items including Unkut watches, necklaces, bracelets, T-shirts, tank tops, hoodies and camisoles. Change it up with a preppy polo, or dress it down with some jeans at Sloppy Seconds. Ink-up your character with 16 all new tattoo options.
As for a PS3 and PC version? Well there’s no word on when or even if those versions will drop but we’ll keep you updated.
Saints Row 2 DLC Delayed
The first DLC pack that adds more craziness to Saints Row 2 has been delayed by a week, announced THQ.
The content will now be released on Thursday, April 23.
Dubbed “Ultor Exposed”, the pack is the first of three planned content releases for the zany open-world game. It adds a Tera Patrick-themed mission arc, six new vehicles, four multiplayer maps and a competitive co-op mode. The pack will cost 800 Microsoft points ($10) once released.
No PC version was mentioned.
Red Faction: Guerilla Gets Release Date
Following the revelation of the Saints Row 2 DLC, Volition today gave Red Faction: Guerilla a solid release date – June 9.
The studio’s next game will hit PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on the same day. It is the sequel to the destruction-centric first-person shooter set on Mars. However, this entry does away with the linear level design and introduces an open-world to destroy.
A downloadable demo is set for release on April 23. However, those who preorder the game from GameStop will get it almost three weeks before.
Saints Row 2 DLC Exposes Ultor
The first of three Saints Row 2 downloadable content packs for PS3 and Xbox 360 has been announced by developer Volition.
Dubbed “Ultor Exposed”, the DLC will add a mission arc where an Ultor microbiologist – played by adult entertainment actress Tera Patrick – joins the Third Street Saints to expose the evil megacorporation.
It also adds four multiplayer maps – two each for the Strong Arm and Gangster Brawl modes – and six new vehicles. There’s also a new competitive co-op mode that rewards destruction with cash. Additionally, there are new outfits and hairstyles.
The content is due out April 16 and will set you back 800 points ($10).
THQ Cuts 86 from Volition
In today’s first bit of bad news from the industry, THQ has confirmed that 86 quality assurance staffers were recently let go at Volition, the studio behind the free-roaming Saint’s Row franchise.
Forty seven temporary employees were fired at the studio’s Champaign, Illinois facility, in addition to 39 full-time staff. All those affected will be given sixty days notice and employment assistance.
"[The layoffs] will not result in any layoffs within the core development teams at Volition," noted THQ. "Volition remains a key development studio within THQ and will continue to employ 236 staff.”
Saint’s Row 2 PC DRM Revealed, System Requirements Detailed

Having recently played the game on the Xbox 360, I’m looking forward to the delayed PC port of Saint’s Row 2. There are many of you who might be waiting on what DRM is included – there’s good news for you: the PC port will use Valve’s Steam for its copy protection, going by a forum post by Volition community manager.
“We’re trying to use a very low impact DRM here, since we’ve seen some of the headaches faced by other major game releases in recent months,” said the manager.
The game is due out January 6, 2009 in retail stores as well as on Steam. Volition also announced the minimum and recommended requirements for the game, which are as expected. Hit the jump for the info. More »
Saint’s Row 2 PC Release Date Unknown
The PC platform goes ignored once again as Volitions open-world GTA clone tribute Saint’s Row 2 is now available on PS3 and Xbox 360, but not the PC. In fact, the studio doesn’t even known when the PC version will be released.
"There is no official word on the PC ship date other than that it doesn’t ship today," a THQ representative told Shacknews
The PC version of the game was announced earlier this year, though no release date was provided, though it was expected to launch alongside the console editions.
Saint’s Row 2 Not Coming to Wii Because…
It often feels like the Wii is left out from all the mature gaming goodness out there, and it seems Volition producer Dan Sutton thinks so too, as he answered why the console won’t be getting Saint’s Row 2, among other things.
The main reason, he indicates, is that the use of motion controls would stir up potential controversy. “With games like ours you get much more controversy when you add motion controls like you saw with Manhunt 2,” he said. “We have weapons like chainsaws, satchel charges, stuff like that. I can definitely see people having a problem and outcry towards that because it does actually feel like you’re using weapons that way.”
Sutton also stated that the console lacks the graphical fidelity found in both PS3 and Xbox 360, making the developer less interested in the system.
“At Volition we’re really about pushing really good graphics and with the Wii you just feel like you’re playing on an older console,” he said. “We’re definitely focused on the Xbox 360 and PS3.”
