Walmart offering $100 gift card with Xbox 360 Arcade
Count this one as one of the really good offers you can get this holiday season: when you purchase a $199 Xbox 360 Arcade at Walmart, they’ll give you a $100 gift card, which you can use on games, accessories, or whatever else Walmart has to offer (which is a lot).
Forking over another $35, alongside the gift card, will get you a hard drive for your Arcade console — still a great deal. But hurry, there’s a limited amount of offers per store.

Walmart to offer used game sales

Used game sales are a huge business — they account for well over 40% of GameStop’s — the largest game retailer in the world — revenue. So it’s of no surprise that more players are looking to enter the market, one of those being Amazon, and now, Walmart.
The mega retailer has opened used games kiosks in 77 of its retail stores, helping gamers sell their old games and buy used ones. Walmart is looking to expand those kiosks to even more stores, once the system has been fully developed and tested.

Boy Gets “Redneck Shit” Instead of Madden
Those rednecks are at it again! When Michael’s son bought a copy of Madden NFL 09 using his Christmas money, the kid got – uh – less than he bargained for. Instead of getting the game disc and the accompanying manual, he found a blank disc labeled “Redneck Shit”.
No, he didn’t buy an used copy, though, as the game packaging sported all of the usual security stickers. However, Michael found that scotch tape was used to reseal the game’s shrinkwrap, leading him to speculate that someone else bought the game and returned it – without disc – to the local Walmart.
They are expected to “Redneck Shit” for a genuine copy of the game today. To Michael and his son: Godspeed.
Retailers Tired of Large Controllers
It appears that retailers have grown tired of large plastic instrument controllers taking up their valuable shelf space. In fact, the PopStar Guitar controller by XS Games almost didn’t make it to stores because retailers weren’t willing to stock it. Additionally, one Wal-Mart executive even “spent ten minutes explaining the problem of every single publisher coming out with a new, big controller” during a demo for a music-rhythm game.
This MTV Multiplayer report takes a look at the issue. It notes that XS Games was forced to come up with a Wii Remote wrap-around controller instead of a full-blown plastic guitar just to get retail space for its game.
Music games aren’t the only culprit either, with Wii Fit packing the huge balance board peripheral. Heck, the next Tony Hawk game is expected to pack a skateboard of its own.
