‘There is Only War’ beta now offline, more fixes and balance changes in launch

The “There is Only War” beta period for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II officially ended yesterday night. Although the beta was scheduled to end on the 14th, Relic Entertainment decided to extend the beta to keep it playable for a bit longer, even though no more feedback would be accepted.

The developers mention that the beta was a success, receiving an “overwhelming amount of community feedback and support.” That being said, the retail launch of the patch will be rolling out soon, except this time with even more bug fixes and balance changes unseen in the beta.

“There is Only War” includes eight unreleased multiplayer maps, balance changes, bug fixes, and a map editor.

THQ exec Scott Guthrie leaves

Despite announcing Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, which is sure to garner some interest, THQ has announced that their publishing VP, Scott Guthrie, has flown the coup.

This information comes to us from Joystiq who says Guthri left for no apparent reason.

Considering Guthrie was in charge of sales, distribution and marketing in North America, it’s safe to say this won’t change the quality of THQ titles.

Dawn of War II demo available, sale on Steam

THQ announces today that a new single player demo has been released for Dawn of War II. It clocks in at around a hefty 3.8GB.

In celebration of the new demo, Steam has also given the real-time-strategy game a 25% discount if you buy the game before Monday, which makes the price at $37.49.

Blood Bowl website launches, includes beta sign-up page

Have you ever wanted to play a game based in the Warhammer universe described as “an ultra violent team sport”? Well then, you are in luck as Cyanide has recently launched a website along with a beta signup page for their upcoming game Blood Bowl.

Blood Bowl is based on a popular board game, which shares the same name, in which you pit Orcs, Elves, Dwarves and every other mythical creature you can think of against one another in a football-esque blood fest.

Dawn of War 2 beta this month

The sequel to the critically acclaimed and popular RTS Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War will have a beta this month, as promised by publisher THQ.

The beta will be available through Steam and will be exclusive to owners of Dawn of War: Soulstorm on January 21, followed by a worldwide release on January 28.

All four races will be playable in the beta, which will feature four multiplayer maps as well. The game is scheduled for release on February 20.

Warhammer Online Beta Goes Live September 7th for All Pre-orders

Previously reserved just for the Collector’s Edition of Warhammer Online, a somewhat public beta will go live on September 7th incorporating all who pre-ordered the game from various retailers.

Previously, only those who pre-ordered the Collector’s Edition from Amazon.com, Gamestop, Game Crazy, GoGamer.com, Bestbuy, and EA Store.com would get the beta key, giving you an idea of where you would have to pre-order the standard version to also get the key.

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is a subscription-based MMORPG currently under development by Mythic Entertainment that will hopefully begin shipping for the PC September 18th.
